Description

Nag Tibba means Serpents Peak, is the highest peak in lower Himalayas of Garhwal region near Mussoorie. It also gives a name to the Nag Tibba Range, which is one of the three ranges of Lesser Himalayas, the other ranges are Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal.

It is one of the best weekend treks that can be commenced by the beginners as well as experienced trekkers. A small temple is enshrined atop the hill, from where one can have a panoramic view of the entire Banderpunch ranges of the Great Indian Himalayas towards the Yamunotri side.

Nagtibba is a perfect place for camping during spring and summers and one of the most suitable trek for winters, when most of the treks are closed due to heavy snow. Due to its easy access it is one of most popular weekend treks in India.

The road passes through a Mussoorie-the queen of hills, to Kempty Falls, and with the Yamuna River trailing our side on to Nainbagh from where we turn on the Nag TIbba road, reaching Panthwari at around noon. We will take a halt in between for light breakfast. We will be trekking for 30 minutes on a rocky trail in our way. We will come across a cluster of thatched-roofed huts- a small village on cliffs, lined with terrace farmlands. Day 2: Base Camp to Nag Tibba top and back

We will not rush today as we will be having plenty of time to reach Nag Tibba top. We will off to Nag Tibba top after a healthy breakfast. Make sure it will become a little challenging to locate the trail because snow covered the path in winters. For the trekking of 20-30 minutes, we will happen to reach two open patches of land, clearings by the forest fringes. The trek continues from here into the forest on a steep incline, likely to be submerged in the snow in the winter. This part of the trek really raises the bar for a challenge and makes for a swashbuckling summit experience. Reach Nag Tibba top, and witness the stunning views of the Himalayan peaks like Swarga-Rohini, Bandar Poonch, Kedarnath, and Gangotri. Get served with mouth-watering lunch at the camp.
