Description
Kedartal Trek is for adventure lovers. Kedartal also is known as ‘Shiva’s Lake’ is one of the highest lakes in Uttarakhand. This immaculate glacial lake is seated at an elevation of 4,912 metres above sea level in the Uttarkashi district. Kedar Tal lake is formed by the melting of Kedar glacier, thereby giving birth to Kedar Ganga River which is an important tributary of Bhagirathi River.
A challenging trek towards the lake demands exquisite mountaineering experience and here is a 6 day-long trek to the holy site of Gangotri and Kedartal which goes through the rough trails encircled by fir and bhoj trees in plenty. The trail is also extremely remote. There is no human habitation at this altitude. And you find very few trekking groups on this trail. The Kedar Kharak campsite is on a vast dry meadow, hemmed in by mountains on all sides. A wide stream runs through this meadow. This setting makes the sunsets at this campsite exceptional. When the sun sinks behind the snow-clad Bhrigupanth, the entire meadow turns orange and then turns grey, and fades into the inky blackness of the night.

IMPORTANT POINTS
- You will be staying in tents on all days of the trek.
- Trekkers must carry a copy of their photo ID for entry at forest check posts on the trek.
Please note: Twin sharing tents may not be available in May, June, July and August. This is because raw materials for making tents are sourced from different countries. But their export has been affected due to international unrest. This has led to a global shortage of tents. Having said that, you'll still have comfortable space as these tents have been designed to accommodate three trekkers.
