Bali Pass trek lies in the Himalayas and it is at an altitude of 4953 m. It is a connecting pass that connects Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara valley to Yamunotri valley. Bali Pass trekking is not for everybody but for the real lovers of adventure, the thrill of this trek is much more than you can expect. The challenging trails of Bali Pass make it one of the difficult treks. Major attractions of Bali Pass Trekking. Picturesque meadow of Debshu Bugyal amidst Ruinsara forest with surpassing views of Mt. Kala Nag and Swargarohini, it is a bliss for trekkers to camp here. The undulating meadows surround this unique Lake named “Ruinsara Lake” and it lies in the middle of Swargarohini mountain ranges. The beautiful views of Govind Pashu National Park and Ruinsara valley are captivating.

It goes along the famous places of the Himalayas the first one being Yamunotri, the Dhaam of the Chaar Dhaam yatra. Followed by it is Har ki Doon valley then Ruinsara lake and Osla village. this pass connects Har ki Doon and Ruinsara valley. After 16,207 ft path is a bit difficult and narrow that can fit only 20-30 people. The pass offers a 360-degree view of Swargarohini, Banderpooch, and Garhwal peaks. Bali pass trek is for those who wish to hike to different and less traveled paths. Even though it is difficult it's every step is worth it. It challenges us in every way through drastically changing terrains, narrow paths, dangerous descend, long hours of walking. Of historic, religious, mountaineering, importance Bali pass trek is nothing like any other Himalayan trek. It is a walk into the unknown of the known.

  • Day 1 - Dehradun to Sankri

  • Day 2 - Sankri to Seema via Taluka

  • Day 4 - Rainbasera to Ruinsara Tal

  • Day 6 - Odari to Bali Col camp

  • Day 7 - Bali Col Camp to Lower Dhamni via Bali Pass

  • Day 8 - Lower Dhamni to Janki Chatti and Drive to Dehradun
  • Detailed Itinerary

    Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri

    We will drive from Dehradun to Sankri will take you through scenic places like Kempty waterfalls, Nainbagh, Mussoorie, etc. It is surrounded by the peaks of Swargrohini and other Greater Himalayan peaks. We will reach Sankri in the evening then there will enjoy the night view from there. In Sankri will do a night stay in the guest house.

    Day 2: Sankri to Seema via Taluka

    After early morning breakfast, we will drive to taluka. our trek will start from taluka. The trail goes around 12 km goes by crossing major streams, bamboo, and deodar trees. From taluka will follow the stone way path that descends to down to river bed. After crossing 2-3 bridges (one wooden one cement) we will gradually climb toward the open ground. We can interact with locals over there. After another 2 hours walk and we will find beautiful unseen wooden architectures. This place is known as a Ghangad village. We will move further after 20 minutes we will reach the Dhaba and water run mill. After exploring here we will go towards our camping ground. We will do a night stay in this camping ground.

    Day 3: Seema to Rainbasera

    We will start our trek from Seema in morning after breakfast. The trail will go down from here. We will walk along the Supin river. After Ruinsara Valley the trail gradually ascends. After 30 minutes walk, Debshu Bugyal begins. The Bugyal is huge pastureland of 2km in length. This will be our resting point. From here we can clearly see Kala Nag and Black Peak. The further path is filled with slippery stones. after crossing the bridge steep climb starts. On our left will see the har ki dun valley and Ruinsara rivers. We will spend a night beside the gushing river.

    Day 4: Rainbasera to Ruinsara Tal

    Today will do a trek toward Ruinsara Lake. We will walk 3-4 hours from the camping site until we reach the reflecting water body. We will see glaciers from distance. Today’s camping place is between Supin river and Ruinsara lake and surrounded by meadows with huge snow-capped mountains in the distance. We will see stunning big mountains range like Bandarpoonch, Kala nag, Dhumdhar Khai, and White peak dominate the skies. Yamnotri temple is within walking distance of our camping site.

    Day 5: Ruinsara Tal to Odari

    We will start our day with 10 minutes descent trek toward the riverbed. We will cross the ice-cold water river by making a human chain. After seeing some more magnificent views we will trek toward Odari. There we can visit the rock cave near our camping site. Locals believe that Bali (brother of Lord Krishna) halted in this Cave for a night.

    Day 6: Odari to Bali Col camp

    Today's trek will be a bit difficult. Trek will be a bit difficult. The trail will be 60 degrees steep. We will walk through loose rocks and scree. laden stones make it more difficult. Here height will be significant. Here we have to take proper precautions to avoid AMS. Swargarohini ranges will be completely visible from here. After this trail we will go to funnel valley. Within 1-2 hours we will reach the top of the first ridge. Behind that ridge are the ice fields of Odari. The temperatures at night tend to go below sub-zero degrees.

    Day 7: Bali Col Camp to Lower Dhamni via Bali Pass

    Today we will cross the Bali pass to reach Lower Dhamni. The trail towards Lower dhamni is steep and fully covered with snow. Climbing is around 45 minutes to 1 hour. From the top, we will see the Yamunotri side of the valley. The last climb is again steep. The climbing down is almost 90 degrees with a narrow path. Here we have to follow proper techniques. After this challenging path, we will reach dhamni. The trail from here will be straight and visible but we have to stay with the guide because it is a bit confusing. We will go to the campsite and spend the night in the tent.

    Day 8: Lower Dhamni to Janki Chatti and Drive to Dehradun

    Today is the last day of our trek. most of the Trail will be descending. Some of the trails will be well-paved cement pathways. There is a slight which will ascend up to the Yamunotri which will another 1-2 hours. We will start our 6-7 hours long road journey from chatti to Dehradun.
